JAlbum 8.2.6
If you ever need to quickly upload a bunch of images for people to see in a Web browser, try JAlbum (free). Just drag and drop images or folders onto JAlbum and click the "Make album" button. You can then upload the resulting folder to a Web server or MobileMe iDisk for anyone to see, or copy it to a CD. The available themes are impressive, and it takes just a minute or two to make a large album. See examples at www.jalbum.net.

Licensed 1.0
Licensed (free) is a very simple utility that lets you keep track of your software licenses. It has fields for Manufacturer, Product, Version, License code, Owner, Email address, Date, and a field for Notes. Its search field lets you find any text, and a handy button lets you copy the Owner or the License code for pasting into an installer. Simple and effective.

PiXel Check 1.2

  • QuarkXPress XTensions

Acronyms
Acronyms is a free XTension from Vision's Edge for QuarkXPress 6, 7 or 8 that searches your Layout for uppercase acronyms and replaces them with lower case Small Caps. For example, PDF becomes pdf, styled in Small Caps. You can control the minimum and maximum number of uppercase characters it should consider an acronym. And if you don't trust it yet, you can optionally confirm each conversion. We have used Acronyms to convert the hundreds of ugly ALL CAPS acronyms to pretty Small Caps on the pages of each issue of Design Tools Monthly for many, many years.

Cursor Position
Cursor Position is a free XTension from Durrant Software for QuarkXPress 4, 5, 6, and 7 that provides a small palette (the same height as the measurements palette) that shows the current or most recent position of the text cursor, relative to the top left point of the text box that contains the cursor, or from the page margins or page origin. In addition, it also shows any vertical space added to a line by the vertical justification routine, it remembers the last position within any text box, and it can change its measurement display to whatever number system (points, picas, etc.) is in use. It's useful for many things, especially when creating Web pages in QuarkXPress.

Moniker 8
Moniker is a free XTension from Vision's Edge for QuarkXPress 4/5/6/7/8 that makes it really easy to add AppleScript names to objects on a QuarkXPress page. This lets you call items by name in your scripts, instead of using a tedious list of properties, and to edit the names given to items by QuarkXPress.
