AutoFontCacheRemoval
Jon Morgan of Hopkins Printing provides this free solution for removing font caches that may be causing system and font instability in Mac OS X. It removes all font-related cache files, except for Adobe's .lst files. While most designers will be happiest with a commercial solution such as Insider Software's Smasher ($50), if you're slightly technical, you can accomplish much the same thing for free with AutoFontCacheRemoval. Just follow the directions.

Carbon Copy Cloner (donationware) is a utility that lets you copy your Mac OS X startup volume to a different hard drive, including all the invisible files and preferences necessary to allow it to start up your Mac. Just click a button and it copies. It can also synchronize disks, make incremental backups, scheduled backups, and create disk images. It can copy only selected files or folders, rather than the entire drive, and copy across a network to another Mac or networked hard drive.

GrandPerspective (free) is a utility that shows the space that files are taking up on your hard drive, in a graphically useful and interesting way. Each file is shown as a rectangle with an area proportional to the file's size, with files grouped into their folders. It can search a folder or an entire drive.

You can store three bits of information for each item, including a URL, your User ID/Name/Login information, and a password/serial number/PIN. You can also add notes into a text field. It's simple, secure, and free (although donations are accepted).
